The early days

Founded in 1993, Harrison-Jolly Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. began with Jeff Jolly, a skilled HVAC technician with 14 years of experience. With little capital and no state license, Jeff partnered with David Harrison, a retired HVAC business owner from Alabama, to start the company in Northport, Alabama. Together, they launched the business, and though Jeff wasn’t a businessman by trade, his hard work and dedication laid the foundation for what would become a thriving company.

Family Involvement & Expansion

In 2004, Jeff’s son, Tyler Jolly, started working summers at the company, learning the HVAC trade and business values. Over the years, Tyler transitioned into a full-time role as a skilled technician and outside salesman. By 2010, Tyler shifted his focus to the operational side of the business and began exploring ways to stabilize the company’s income through a more diversified revenue model.

Recognizing the lack of commercial HVAC services in the region, Tyler spearheaded the launch of the Jolly Mechanical Division in 2011. This move helped the company tap into the commercial construction market, offering superior customer service in an industry that was not accustomed to it. The expansion into commercial work, combined with the company’s strong residential focus, allowed the business to grow year-round and weather seasonal fluctuations.

Ownership Transition & Major Growth

In 2017, after decades of hard work, Jeff and Mary retired and sold the company to Tyler. At this point, Tyler fully took over the reins, and the company entered a new phase of growth. The following year, in 2020, the company experienced 600% growth under Tyler’s leadership, quickly outgrowing its existing facilities. To support the expansion, Tyler developed KWJ Investments, purchased land, and built a new headquarters to house the growing business operations.

Further Expansion & Diversification

Tyler’s vision didn’t stop with HVAC. In 2022, the company expanded its service offerings and launched Jolly Hearth & Patio, a retail division selling home comfort products. Later that year, Ledge Electric, an electrical contracting division, was introduced to provide residential, commercial, and industrial electrical services. By this time, Jolly HVAC had become the largest HVAC company in Tuscaloosa, and Tyler’s goal was to replicate that success across all divisions of Jolly Companies.
